WB Digital Network
April 29, 2008

The future is now. One day you will be able to login to any channel and watch what you want when you want. No longer will you be dictated to when you can watch your favorite show. WB is relaunching a ?digital network,? in beta next month. It will broadcast their old shows. More and more costly ventures are finding there way to the net. Newspapers are retreating to the net for advertising and TV is headed there for viewers. It’s the new way to do business, fall asleep behind the wheel and you could easily lose your core audience. With such short attentions spans, people want quicker access to products. The new online channel will also carry new content. VOD services are growing like mushrooms and the WB network is a shot in the arm for others in the industry who want to follow suit.
Space Chimps
April 12, 2008
Not since Cornelius and Zira first touched down on earth on Planet of the Apes that chimps will once again grace the silver screen in years. There is so much bad publicity as of late on various sites about this movie. The movie is produced by the duo of John H. Williams (Shrek, Shrek 2) and Barry Sonnenfeld (Men in Black, The Addams Family). Seems animal space flights is the flavor of the month. Nick Abadzis’s graphic novel "Laika" is one of the first in the past year to examine this side of the animal world experiments by man to conquer the stars. As much as we want to glorify the animal achievements both dogs and chimps did die in these flights. Heralded as heroes by the space community, these poor animals went through torture in space. Cartoons are always on a light side of reality and with caution because of the young audience. This movie is all in fun but one must remember the blotted out stories of over 50 years of animals that suffered in the exploration of space. This will be a great movie but it just is a bit tainted because of the true realities of the early space program and Nick Abadzi’s bold telling of Laika’s 5 hour flight that lead to his death. This movie is cliched at best as you might noticed from the trailer, but I highly recommend it for the family.
Pink Panther in Tin
April 1, 2008

There is not much one can do with tin cans, but there is one little company in Italy that is churning out cans licenced characters from piggy banks, pencil boxes, and waste bins with colorful concepts. Their canisters caught my eye and the clinging of coins and pencils will be the envy of many a collector. See site>>
The Love Guru
March 24, 2008
The Love Guru is Mike Myers new comedic vehicle to ridicule his Canadian roots. Seems Mike is paying homage to a famous skit from John Byner’s Bizarre TV show from the 80’s when he meditates and pulls his legs all over the place. John Byner was notorious for using famous midget actor Billy Barty on his show. I wonder if that was the inspiration for Mini-me? Bizarre was one of those shows that dared to be different and had a politically non-correct bit called the "Bigot Family" that has since been cut out in syndication. After watching the trailer of Love Guru I am left with a sense of nostalgia for Bizarre. There was a famous actor that was on that show that went on to bigger things. If you guessed it was Mike Myers, you would be right. He played John Byner’s nephew on the show.
Montreal Graffiti as Art
March 6, 2008
So begins my quest for this year to find original art hidden through out the city of Montreal. Montreal is a vibrant city of multi-cultured people spawning mosaic origins from all over the world. I am sure the art I will find can found and expressed in many cosmopolitans in North America. Each day when I travel to work and back home, I passed by the above mural as it slowly went up. Ever languidly color and lines sprawling on the red brick wall, and then the red disappeared as a whole new world breathed over the cemented facade. I never saw the artist who put it up. Like most of this type of work, they will grace walls and nobody to see who painted them. Permanent residents on the daily commute they evoke their own imagery to personal taste. I am just a camera capturing the soul of the image of a city unique that came to be Montreal and as I watch it decay and grow anew. This is a moment of time that I will travel to bring you a personal artistic journey of wonder and discovery. Like the first explorers to the island, I will as a resident rediscover my own backyard. Hope you enjoy this personal pleasure trip. See more>>

Screwy Ronald McDonald
February 3, 2008

I found these new piggy-banks at McDonald’s rather funny. Many kids and including mine just hate clowns. Ronald McDonald seems rather funny looking and has that "Joker" crazed look to him in this new piggy-bank. Unlike the generic ones made out of metal of the past, this new piggy-bank is a bit on the creepy side. Sure they are trying to seduce the little ones by having the kids put that extra coin in the Ronald McDonald piggy-bank. I find it comical that Ronald’s hands are screwed down to the house. Could it be that Ronald is helping himself to the company cash? Symbolic or weird.
Sandbox World Analytics
January 31, 2008

Google Analytics is a cool little device to keep track of all the countries that visit your site. Sandbox World is proud to report that we are now viewed monthly in 153 countries. According to the UN there are 192 countries recognised by this body of world government and if Vatican City is included then you have 193 countries in total. Sandbox World is 40 countries short of covering the whole world. Those countries need to get some Internet connections. The top country that views Sandbox World is the United States, and the top city of Sandbox World is Monterey Park in California. We salute all our friends in Monterey Park and the other viewers around the world. Thank you for your emails and your time, Sandbox World is expanding and growing and a few more surprises.
Goggle Jacket
December 20, 2007
And now from left field, the rage in England this year is a fad that will soon jump over to North America. A Jacket? It’s being dubbed the “goggle jacket” and “burkhas for boys”. Many eyebrows are being raised, but not the suffering garment industry in England. These jackets are flying off coat-hangers like it’s candy. Next thing if they come up with a cool design for underwear, I think many kids would not be disappointed with their grand-parents this Christmas. Read more>>
